Innovative ideas + Practical experience = Sound Solutions

Entrepreneur

As the proprietor of Plumb, I provide intellectual property management for legacy music publishing and recording catalogs. I was the CEO of StringBender, Inc. a guitar accessory company and an artist-owned record label, where I helped develop the Parsons/Green B-Bender and license the patent to Fender guitars. The history of StringBender is part of Guitars – The Museum in Umea, Sweden.

Performing Songwriter

I’ve recorded three albums and traveled through the US, UK and Europe “building community through music” performing my handcrafted collection of originals and curated covers. I’ve also toured with the Fare-Thee-Wells, performing songs from my father’s songbook. Long ago I was in a duet with Gene Parsons playing West Coast Country-rock tinged Americana and even longer ago traveled with The Gypsy Gulch International String Band, playing a wild mix of Hungarian czardas, Portugueuse fado, and Appalachian folk.

Activist / Community Organizer

My activism began as a child helping with a benefit for Pete Seeger’s Clearwater sloop. Over the years, I’ve helped end the aerial application of herbicides on forests in Northern California, joined forces with Judi Bari to protect old growth forests with Redwood Summer and was a founding Board Member with Caspar Community. Since moving to Vancouver, Washington I’ve worked to hold the thin green line as an Organizing Fellow with Washington Conservation Voters to elect Don Orange, Port of Vancouver Commissioner, thus ending the threat of a large oil terminal being built here, and then as a Field Organizer with Clean Air Clean Energy coalition on Washington State Initiative 1631.

Doomsday Foresworn – January 1, 02000

Back on January 1, 02000 I made a new millennium resolution. I gave up preparing for the end of the world. If the world ends, it’s going catch me by surprise.

Both Sides of the Street – April 5, 2003

We had a peace march in Fort Bragg, California when George W. Bush invaded Iraq. It drew hundreds of coastal citizens who gathered near the Exxon station. We marched down Main Street with banners, flags, drums and a police escort past a contingent of citizens in front...
